After a tough winter and spring, i made the tough decision to abandon plans to race at Ironman Barcelona. With mutiple niggling injuries and a hectic family life with a second baby i just wasn't in the shape i wanted to be in and so decided to use the summer to get my body back in healthy shape, both physically and mentally. Unfortunately all that a lack of a real goal did was allow me to be lazy and get healthily plump!
Anyway a new year - a new me!
I started back training last week and have entered Ironman Sweden in August next year.
This blog will become an area where i update my training, but also i want to start to explain what goes into training for various events. So i plan to feature various clients plans and schedules (with their permission!) and explain why they are doing particluar sessions and the prurpose of each session.
As well as this i plan to upload various videos and information here and on the facebook page (www.facebook.com/STTricoaching), which will feature advice and routines on Stretching, mobility, Self-myofascial release and strength and conditioning specific to triathlon and running.
So with that, my training this week consisted of 2 runs - i didn't want to run with heart rate monitor or my watch as didn't want it to affect me - just wanted to go out and run. i did and managed 2 lots of 8km runs - very slow, but you gotta to start somewhere right!
at the end of the month i will detail my runs with a funky graph and then when back from Barcelona - i am still going to support 3 of my clients racing - my training will begin in earnest.
Hopefully watching an Ironman for the first time; despite competing in 8 long distance triathlons - i am yet to watch one; will give the impetus to get going - despite going into winter!
